The Jackson County School Board will hold a Special Meeting at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 to discuss and develop a revised school district map. The Special Meeting is open to the public. A recommendation will be approved to be presented at the regular board meeting on January 18, 2022.

The Jackson County School Board will hold a Special Board Meeting on Thursday, December 16, 2021. The purpose of the meeting will be consideration of a purchase order over $10,000 to relocate the communication room at Grand Ridge School. The time of the meeting will be no earlier than 4:45 PM, but immediately following a school expulsion hearing which will begin immediately following the 4:00 PM board workshop.
Superintendent of Schools, Steve R. Benton, Sr., and the members of the Jackson County School Board thank Sherriff Edenfield and all the local law enforcement teams who provided additional security at school sites today. As a measure of caution, Marianna High and Marianna K-8 remained on a soft-lockdown throughout the day.
Marianna High School and Marianna K-8 School are on a soft-lock down this morning while Jackson County law enforcement officers search for a Sunland resident. Sherriff Edenfield has provided additional officers at each school while a search of the area is conducted. Classes are continuing as scheduled and outside movement of students is limited. An updated press release will be sent when the lockdown is lifted.
